Hopes & Expectations

T-19 Days
Hopes for the fellow co-travelers:
What good is an adventure if you can't share the story or experience with somebody? I am lucky to have such a good group of students to travel with. I am good friends with a few of the students and I hope to extend that bond with everybody as quick as possible. For three months, we will be thousands and thousands of miles from home. I hope to have these fellow students feel the same as I do, because we will have to work together and develop a family-like bond to get the most out of this trip.

Hopes for the staff:
In the fall semester of my Junior year, I had Heather Tullio as my multi-camera professor. In my experience of having her, I discovered that she is very knowledgeable and very professional. This type of teaching can be hard for students because of grading, deadlines, and attention to details. I may have disliked having a teacher grade me on fine details, but the fact is that I changed more, for the better, in her class than a majority of my classes. She helped me prioritize, focus on details, work under pressure, and many other useful skills. Looking over that fact, I am happy that Heather is my professor in Europe. She will make sure that our experience in Europe will be as rich as it can be. I just hope that we aren't too overloaded with work so we can experience Europe from a tourist's perspective, not just a student's. As for Tom, I have worked with him for a few projects in Multi-Camera productions, and he seems like a smart and friendly man who will be great to work with.

Expectations Of Myself:
I am a 20 year old student who is working on fulfilling his film production dreams. I have spent 5 semesters in a classroom setting at Franklin Pierce University. My 6th semester is to take me out of the classroom and place me right in the textbooks we read. This semester in Vienna is Mass Communication based, and that is just what I want. I watch many movies and film my own. In Europe, we will be doing things such as the Sound of Music Tour, visiting museums, and touring a part of the world far from home. I hope to learn a lot about Europe from being within its heart. I hope to sight see and think of places I could film for my current independent study, and projects that may come in future jobs. I hope I can make the most from this trip as I can.
What I'm Nervous About:
I am emotionally strong, so being homesick and missing my family isn't my main worry. My only worry is my safety. The recent attacks on Mumbai changed my opinion of how safe this world is. I have been to Israel a couple of times and one trip was during the suicide bombing. I know the world is not safe, but the fact that I'm a Jew who is 1/2 Israeli doesn't help my safety. I am traveling to Hitler's home country, where I would have been exterminated 70 years ago. That fact is going to move me greatly. The world is still cruel and my only worry is my safe return home.
